Our Mission
Our mission is to provide University of Maryland employees with opportunities for professional development, leadership development, and advanced skills training.
Our Goals
- Increase employee participation in on-line and on-site training.
- Implement innovative learning forums that directly strengthen the capacity of employees and their departments.
- Partner with internal/external departments to provide employees with a diversity of training venues and opportunities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness (Return on the Investment) of programs and services for departments and employees.
Our Services
ET&D offers comprehensive professional development
programs to advance the goals of the Institution and further opportunities for career
development. Initiate a campus-wide system of integrated employee development programs
(either centralized or de-centralized, as appropriate for specific services).
- General employee development offerings.
- Management/Executive development training.
- Leadership development training.
- Provide on-site individualized training sessions.
- Program development: curriculum development, instructional systems
design.
- Leadership skills assessment.
- Individual consultation: coaching and counseling, behavior
modification.
- Individual development: portfolio development, external development
opportunities.
- ESOL: English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program
